Welcome to my site!  I'm so glad you stopped by!  If you are reading this then you are still unsure if you are ready to take the big step of hiring an interior designer.  Well, if it makes you feel better, it isn't for absolutely everyone.  But if you watch TV, it sure looks like everyone should run out an hire a designer.  

Here's a list of questions that may help you decide.

• Do you have money but no time?  Maybe you are a dynamo at your career and you couldn't possibly wrap your head around how to even begin designing your bedroom or renovating your kitchen.
• Do you have time but really want "WOW!" factor?  It's possible that the designer at the local furniture store could help you pull a room together but they may not get to know you well enough to deliver on your dream.
• Do you have a few pictures tucked away in a folder or images on Pinterest of what your dream room would look like but don't want to mess it up by going it alone?

These are all good reasons to hire an interior designer.  So far so good.  

The other huge question is "how the heck to do I go about finding the designer for me?"  A good designer/client relationship is like a good marriage.  You need to have a connection with that person and you need to feel comfortable having open and honest communication.   So, look at websites, look at Houzz profiles, check out some professional design organizations and see whose work appeals to you.  Then, give that person a call.  This is your opportunity to see if you have some chemistry.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.    What is your design process?  How do you charge?  Make sure you feel comfortable.  If it's not right, cut your losses and move on to the next.  If you are feeling pretty good, ask what the next steps would be.  

Just like dating, in design there's someone for everyone.  Whether you like hands-on, frequent meetings and specifying together hand in hand or if you just want your designer to call you when it's done, there's someone for you.   You just need to look around, then swipe right.
